This webinar will focus on the various aspects of public sector employee discipline for New Jersey municipalities. The general principles concerning the disciplinary process will be examined from the outset of the reason for discipline, to issuing charges, conducting a hearing and appeal. Differences between civil service and non-civil service jurisdictions will be addressed as well as union and non-union employees. Special attention will be provided to the disciplinary process for police and fire. Current topics concerning discipline in law enforcement will be explored including licensing requirements for police, disclosure of disciplinary records, use of cannabis by uniformed and public employees and other timely topics of interest.
