The partial shutdown of the federal budget has entered its second month. There is no progress to report from Washington.
On Friday evening, Governor Murphy declared a State of Emergency due to the federal suspension of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits because of the federal shutdown. Executive Order 402 was issued to coordinate a statewide response to ensure that vulnerable residents have access to food. Please read Monday’s Daily Update and last week’s writeup for more information.
The state’s Economic Development Authority provided $900,000 to support food banks across the state.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that certain airspace could potentially close next week due to a lack of Air Traffic Controllers on the job.
