The Federal Budget expires on March 14. The House passed a continuing resolution to fund the federal government through September by a vote of 217-213, mostly along party lines with one Republican voting no and one Democrat voting yes.
The continuing resolution adds funding for several priorities of President Trump and the House Majority. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the continuing resolution will set the overall base discretionary budget authority for Fiscal Year 2025 at $1.6 trillion with $839 billion for defense and $708 billion for nondefense.
The Senate needs to consider the measure, where it would need bipartisan support to advance, before March 14, otherwise there could be a government shutdown.
This is a fluid situation, and we will continue to monitor events and report as necessary.
