Senator Cory Booker announced that the application process for Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) is open for FY26. The application deadline is Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
CDS directs specified amounts of money to state and local governments or to eligible non-profit entities for a specific project at a specific location.
There are no guarantees that CDS requests will be funded. Additionally, the process in which appropriations bills are considered, finalized, and signed into law can take many months. Even if a project is requested by Senator Booker and selected by the Senate Appropriations Committee, all CDS funding is contingent upon enactment of the federal government’s FY26 appropriations bills.
The Senate Appropriations Committee has not yet provided guidance for FY26, but in previous years, a number of Subcommittees have accepted CDS requests. Each Subcommittee funds CDS projects through one or more budgetary accounts, each of which has its own specific requirements.
Please review the CDS Application Page for specific subcommittee categories, disclosures, and the Frequently Asked Questions for more information.
When other Members of Congress announce their application process we will share that information.
