This week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fire Grants and Safety Act, sponsored by New Jersey Congressmen Tom Kean, Jr. and Bill Pascrell, co-chairs of the House Fire Services Caucus.
S.870, The Fire Grant and Safety Act, which passed the Senate last year and was amended in the House, will provide a five-year reauthorization for the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), the Assistance to Firefighter Grants (AFG) Program, and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant (SAFER) Program. The bill returns to the Senate for consideration of the amendments.
If the Senate acts favorably and the legislation is signed by President Joe Biden, we will alert you when the Notice of Funding Opportunity for these grants are available.
