On Thursday, the House and Senate passed H.R. 7463, a short-term Continuing Resolution to avert a government shutdown. Federal government functions would have ceased on March 1 for Agriculture, Energy-Water, Military Construction-VA, and Transportation-HUD appropriations bills. The new deadline for these bills is March 8. The Commerce-Justice-Science, Defense, Financial Services-General Government, Homeland Security, Interior-Environment, Labor-HHS-Education, Legislative Branch, and State-Foreign Operations had a March 8 deadline. That deadline has been extended to March 22.
This is the fourth continuing resolution passed for the Fiscal Year 2024 budget, which began on October 1. President Biden signed the legislation.
