This week, League President, Wharton Mayor Bill Chegwidden, along with Wharton Councilmember Vasquez and League staff attended the National League of Cities Congressional Cities Conference in Washington DC.
Speakers at the conference included President Joe Biden, historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, US Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, US Senator Tina Smith, Nebraska Congressman Don Bacon, and California Congressman Salud Carbajal. They attended sessions about economic development, federal funding opportunities, and transportation.
The conference ended with meetings on Capitol Hill with Congressman Tom Kean, and the staff of Congresswoman Sherrill and Congressman Payne.
