The League, along with the New Jersey Association of Counties and New Jersey Conference of Mayors, as well as public sector unions, engaged in discussions with the Murphy Administration to reform the State Health Benefits Program. For a variety of reasons, there is no resolution to report.
Despite good faith efforts and agreement on many of the resolutions, the discussions have reached an impasse.
This issue will need to be resolved in 2026, and we look forward to working with the incoming Sherrill Administration to address solutions to increases in healthcare costs in the SHBP and for municipal employers.
