The program supports projects that improve indoor air quality in community buildings, including municipal facilities, community centers, schools, and emergency shelters.
Eligible activities include developing smoke readiness and response plans, public outreach and training, deployment of indoor air quality monitoring equipment and portable air cleaners, designation of cleaner air shelters, and capital improvements such as HVAC upgrades, filtration enhancements, and weatherization. The EPA will award grants ranging from $350,000 to $2.5 million, with project periods of up to three years.
Applications are due April 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. through Grants.gov.
