League Testifies in Opposition to Food Waste Recycling Bill 

The League testified and raised concerns about the budget implication of S-203, which establishes statewide targets to reduce disposal of organic waste in landfills and requires DEP to adopt regulations to achieve targets.

Mayors Testify About Withholding of Business Personal Property Tax 

On Thursday, Hamilton Township (Mercer) Jeff Martin and Robbinsville Township Mayor David Fried testified before an Assembly Committee regarding the outdated law that permits utilities to determine whether they are required to pay the BPPT.

Local Unit Budget Processes & Related Operations Bill Advances

NJ Opioid Council Releases Strategic Plan 

The New Jersey Opioid Recovery and Remediation Advisory Council released its inaugural Strategic Plan. It’s a comprehensive, five-year plan for the equitable and data-driven investment of opioid settlement funds.

Senate Version of “Big Beautiful Bill” Released; SALT Cap Reduced 

The Senate Finance Committee released its section of the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which differs from the House-passed version. It reduces the SALT cap deduction to the existing $10,000 and raises the Debt Ceiling by an additional $1 trillion to $5 trillion.

The National Endowment for the Arts is offering the “Celebrating America250: Arts Projects Honoring the National Garden of American Heroes” grants for creative projects that highlight the contributions of certain national heroes.

Registration and housing for the 2025 Annual Conference will open on the same day this year: July 1.
