2026 Small Cities CDBG Program Open

Grants Posted on February 25, 2026

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) announced that the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program will be providing funding to municipalities and counties that are not eligible to receive CDBG funds from another source. The program supports public facilities, housing rehabilitation, innovative development, and community revitalization projects that ultimately benefit low- and moderate-income households or address urgent local needs when no other funding is available.

The grant period runs from July 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027, with up to 24 months to complete funded activities. Applications for Public Facilities, Housing Rehabilitation, and Innovative Development projects are due March 11, 2026, with a March 9, 2026, initiation deadline. Emergency Housing Repair applications may be submitted on a rolling basis.
