The Division of Local Government Services has sent out an E-Gov alert advising of options if existing road salt providers are unable to fulfill needed quantities of road salt ahead of the impending storm.
Should existing road salt providers be unable to fulfill needed quantities ahead of the forecast winter storm, municipalities and counties are reminded to investigate the following options:
- The following State Contracts open to local unit participation (https://www.njstart.gov/bso/)
- T0213 - Rock Salt, Treated Salt and Solar Salt – Statewide (20-FLEET-01519 and 20-FLEET-01520)
- T3124 – Portable Salt Conveyors, Diesel Engine, with Accessories – Statewide (21-FLEET-01396)
- DLGS-registered commodity resale systems or county cooperative contract purchasing systems of which the local unit is a registered member
- National cooperative contracts awarded by other states (being mindful to follow the guidance in Local Finance Notice 2012-10)
If emergency procurement is required, please follow the procedures set forth in N.J.S.A. 40A:11-6 and N.J.A.C. 5:34-6.1.
