The October 3 Lunch & Learn: NJDEP REAL Rules and Municipal Impact and the accompanying slide presentation are now available to view on the League’s website.
The League would like to thank League Environmental Counsel John Scagnelli of Scarinci Hollenbeck and Middletown Administrator Anthony Mercantante for presenting on this important topic.
As a reminder, the proposed changes within the REAL rules would amend existing land resource protection rules including the Coastal Zone Management Rules, Freshwater Wetlands Protection Act, Flood Hazard Area Control Act, and Stormwater Management Rules. Many other rules that cross-reference those mentioned above would also be impacted. These proposed changes would have tremendous impact on municipalities.
The League anticipates providing comments to the NJDEP on the proposed rules by the November 3 deadline. Our members are encouraged to review the proposal to determine the impact it will have on individual municipalities and to share any information or concerns you have with the League to incorporate into our comments.
