Recent amendments modernizing the Open Public Records Act (OPRA) include provisions bolstering privacy protections by excluding certain information from disclosure. This is accomplished through changes to what is considered a government record and the inclusion of a definition of “personal identifying information.”
Records custodians must be aware of these changes and ensure proper redactions when necessary. A recent League blog post reviews the bolstered privacy protections in more detail. We hope you find this to be a useful resource when navigating the updated OPRA.
