On Monday, March18, S-2435, which revises the eligibility criteria for reimbursements from the Emergency Medical Technician Training Fund, passed the Senate. This proposed revision to the current law would allow entities to receive reimbursements for the costs of training and certifying volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), irrespective of whether these entities charge for basic life support services.
The League supports this legislation as it addresses the ongoing issue of expansion and retention of EMTs by removing a financial barrier to volunteerism. The companion bill, A-3537, awaits consideration by the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
