As we have previously reported, the legislature is moving on bills that would overhaul the state’s affordable housing laws.
The Assembly has already passed A-4, while the Senate counterpart, S-50, has been second referenced to the Senate Budget and Appropriations (SBA) Committee after being favorably released from the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee on January 25.
Both bills are now on the SBA Committee’s agenda for a hearing on Monday, March 11. The League expects there will be further amendments to the legislation that will be considered at the SBA Committee hearing. However, the amendments’ language has not yet been made available.
Please see the League’s PowerPoint presentation the League offered on February 9 summarizing the bill, as it passed the Assembly. Please note that while the bill’s summary is current, some of the information regarding possible meeting dates is no longer current.
The League continues to work with the bill sponsors and the legislature on additional amendments to legislation to address ongoing concerns of municipalities It is important to contact your State Senator and Assembly representatives with any questions, comments, or concerns with this legislation.
