The Green Acres Program has announced the opening of its 2024 funding round for municipalities, counties, and nonprofits. Applications are now being accepted for land acquisition, park development, stewardship, Jake’s Law (inclusive playground initiatives), and Urban Parks projects. Please note that the application deadline for all projects, as well as for supplementary funding requests for ongoing projects, is February 7, 2024.
New this year, municipal governments can apply for grants that cover 75% of the costs associated with creating Completely Inclusive Playgrounds. Anticipated award amounts range from $500,000 to $750,000. The Department of Community Affairs has established Jake's Law regulations which define the criteria for Completely Inclusive Playgrounds.
