Governor Murphy signed S-3990/A-5370, which extends the in-person early voting period for primary elections and the challenger appointment deadline. The extended in-person early voting period for non-presidential primary elections increases from three to six days and for presidential primary elections the voting period increases from five to six days. The bill appropriates $6 million from the General Fund for each county and municipality that conducts early voting necessary to effectuate the new law.
The new law took effect on March 3, 2025.
