Recruitment & Selection Advisory Service
The League, in conjunction with the New Jersey Municipal Management Association (NJMMA), offers an Administrator or Manager Recruitment and Selection Advisory Service. This service includes an overview prepared by NJMMA on the recruitment process, as well as the option for elected officials to discuss the recruitment process with a retired municipal Administrator or Manager, who is available to answer questions about best practices.
Please note, the purpose of this service is not to become involved in the recruitment process, but rather to offer guidance on best methods in accomplishing recruitment goals. Contact Associate General Counsel Frank Marshall at 609-695-3481, ext. 137 or via email for more information.

Published by the ICMA, this is a summary statement (PDF) from ICMA’s website on the recruitment process which provides a detailed step by step guideline assisting municipalities in recruiting their Chief Administrative/Chief Executive Officer. Throughout the guide are references to "Range Riders," which are available in each state to provide assistance. In New Jersey this function is available through the Executive Director of the New Jersey Municipal Management Association.
